About STAMP
Twenty years of STAMP
Founded in 2006, South Tyneside Academy of Musical Performance has brought young people together through singing, dancing, acting and live theatre for twenty years.
Founded in South Tyneside in 2006
STAMP was established in 2006 as the South Tyneside Academy of Musical Performance. Its weekly groups give children and young people opportunities to develop singing, dancing and acting together.
Several members of today’s team first took part as young performers, connecting STAMP’s current classes with its earlier community.
Classes and productions
Across its history, STAMP has combined regular musical theatre groups with public productions, pantomimes, summer projects, screenings and special events. The past productions collection and dated news archive preserve that public record.
A home on Frederick Street
In 2019 STAMP announced its move to Frederick Street in South Shields. Regular Minis, Blue Group and Green Group sessions now take place at STAMP Studios, 5 Frederick Street.
Recognition and milestones
STAMP’s preserved news records include the NODA North award for Best Youth Production for its 2017 production of Legally Blonde The Musical. The original dated announcement remains available in the STAMP news archive.
Alumni and a continuing community
Public alumni stories describe routes into teaching, costume and wardrobe, technical work and venue management. They show how early experience at STAMP has connected with later training and careers.
STAMP at twenty
STAMP marks its twentieth anniversary in 2026. Today it continues to provide weekly classes, productions and performance opportunities for children and young people from South Shields and the wider South Tyneside community.
